About the position

As a Research Scientist at Q-CTRL, you'll be responsible for developing solutions for quantum technologies and deploying them in the Q-CTRL product suite. This role involves creating efficient and reliable methods and tools to address challenges faced by real quantum computers, implementing and innovating the latest techniques and algorithms from machine learning and quantum control, and collaborating with colleagues in the Quantum product team and Quantum Professional Services to align research goals. You will also be tasked with explaining and documenting sophisticated control and machine learning solutions in accessible language, and using numerical packages like NumPy, Scipy, Tensorflow, and Scikit-learn to build high-quality research code for developing, testing, and demonstrating new algorithms and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Develop efficient and reliable methods and tools that solve challenges facing real quantum computers.
  • Implement and innovate the latest techniques and algorithms from machine learning and quantum control.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Quantum product team and Quantum Professional Services to better direct research goals.

Requirements

  • PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Expertise in running quantum experiments on silicon-based quantum computers with experience in system characterization and tune-up.
  • At least 3 years of experience conducting research with publications or presentations in recognized academic journals/conferences.
  • At least 2 years of experience in developing software for scientific experiments using languages like Python, C, Rust, or Matlab.

Nice-to-haves

  • Keen understanding of Quantum/Optimal control or Machine Learning tools for optimization, optimal selection, and model learning.
  • Familiarity in executing circuits in Qiskit.
