About the position

The Senior Scientist - Microbiologist will play a crucial role in supporting the Microbiology Center of Excellence at the company's headquarters in Rahway, NJ. This position is responsible for contributing to the company's diverse portfolio, which includes small molecules, biologics, and vaccines. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, routine testing, validations, and the implementation of alternative microbial methods to support the growing pipeline of projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the rapidly growing pipeline via collaboration with stakeholders for various projects.
• Conduct routine testing and validations in a GMP environment.
• Implement alternate microbial methods as needed.
• Contribute to experimental design, execution, and data interpretation for projects.
• Represent the functional area on working group teams.
• Train team members for GMP testing and troubleshooting problems.
• Author SOPs, protocols, and reports including method transfers.
• Cultivate and leverage working relationships with stakeholders within the department and across the organization.
• Travel to the West Point, PA site as needed.

Requirements

• BS degree in microbiology, biology, biological sciences or related field with 7+ years work experience.
• MS degree in microbiology, biology, biological sciences or related field with 4+ years work experience.
• PhD degree in microbiology, biology, biological sciences or related field with 0+ years work experience.
• Extensive knowledge of basic microbiology and aseptic practices in a GMP environment.
• Experience in manufacturing and product testing.
• Experience in leading and supporting quality investigations and change management.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent organizational skills to multi-task and a desire to learn and contribute.
