Calico seeks an experienced mechanistic neurobiologist interested in identifying and understanding the causes of age-associated neurodegeneration. Specifically, we are interested in applicants with a long-term interest in understanding the pathobiology of Parkinson's disease, with a particular emphasis on dysregulation of organelle function, stress signaling and metabolism. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience applying biochemical, molecular and cell biological approaches to study the physiology of brain cells, making use of innovative imaging and 'omics technologies to answer complex questions. We are seeking a scientist that can deploy cellular perturbation systems for ascertaining causal events in neurodegeneration by integrating mechanistic findings with observations made in vivo and with hypotheses derived from human data sets. Senior/Principal Scientists at Calico are expected to be independent and function well in a highly collaborative, cross-functional research environment working closely with state-of-the-art technology labs, physiology, as well as data science and machine learning groups and can lead ambitious research projects.
