About the position

The Senior Scrum Master plays a pivotal role in guiding and supporting teams in the adoption of agile principles and practices, particularly in large and complex platforms and products. This position requires a deep understanding of scaling agile methodologies and the ability to influence and mentor others in the organization. As a teacher, coach, mentor, facilitator, and change agent, the Senior Scrum Master is responsible for fostering an environment that promotes agility and continuous improvement. They will work closely with Scrum teams to ensure that they are focused on delivering high-value increments that meet the Definition of Done, while also removing impediments that may hinder progress. In addition to supporting Scrum teams, the Senior Scrum Master is tasked with ensuring that all Scrum events are conducted effectively and within the designated timeframes. They will shield the team from external influences and guide them in utilizing agile values and principles to enhance customer satisfaction. The role also involves helping teams define clear Product Goals and manage the Product Backlog effectively, establishing empirical product planning in complex environments. The Senior Scrum Master will assess the agile health of the team and coach them towards higher levels of fluency at a sustainable pace, embodying agile behaviors and practices while fostering an innovative and adaptive culture. Collaboration and communication are key components of this role. The Senior Scrum Master will facilitate coordination across multiple teams to ensure the delivery of high value to customers. They will build a trusting and safe environment where team members can raise issues without fear of repercussions. Additionally, they will work closely with the Product Owner to provide mentoring and support in refining and managing the product backlog and aligning delivery expectations with stakeholders. Participation in the Scrum of Scrums and coordination with Project Management are also essential responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist large complex platforms and products in adopting agile principles and practices.
  • Mentor other Scrum Masters and influence agility within the Agile team.
  • Guide the Scrum Team's focus on creating high-value Increments that meet the Definition of Done.
  • Remove impediments to the Scrum Team's progress.
  • Ensure that all Scrum events take place and are productive, positive, and time-boxed.
  • Shield the team from external influences and distractions.
  • Help the team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items.
  • Establish empirical product planning for complex environments.
  • Assess the agile health of the team and coach them to higher levels of fluency.
  • Facilitate coordination and collaboration across multiple teams to ensure high value delivery to customers.
  • Build effective partnerships with the Product Owner and support them in managing the product backlog and release planning.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of scaling agile methodologies.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring Scrum teams.

  • Strong understanding of agile values, principles, and frameworks.
  • Experience in managing and refining product backlogs.
