About the position

The Senior Scrum Master plays a crucial role in fostering Agile practices within the organization, ensuring transparency and visibility of team progress, and facilitating various Scrum-related meetings. This position is responsible for guiding teams through Agile transformations, supporting the development of best practices, and managing release processes to enhance project delivery and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Foster transparency and visibility, ensuring a team's progress, obstacles, and successes are visible to all stakeholders.
  • Help the organization reap the benefits of Agile at scale.
  • Organize and facilitate daily stand-up meetings, reviews, lessons learned, sprint and release planning, demos, and other Scrum-related meetings.
  • Track and communicate team velocity and sprint-release progress.
  • Ensure development teams practice core Agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
  • Assist teams with making appropriate commitments through story selection and task definition.
  • Assist with backlog maintenance as needed.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Gain and maintain a detailed understanding of business goals and platform capabilities.
  • Participate proactively in developing and maintaining team standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Create and maintain process documentation.
  • Remove blockers to team progress and help the team make improvements to avoid similar blockers in the future.
  • Support transformation initiatives during planning and implementation phases.
  • Lead working groups to meet transformation deliverables, including identifying project metrics and updating processes.
  • Track adoption of practices and processes.
  • Support the development of a leadership engagement strategy as roles change in the organization.
  • Make recommendations regarding processes to adapt, change, or discard relating to project and portfolio management.
  • Assist with the development of custom Agile training for Scrum teams, product owners, and Scrum masters.
  • Aid in creating an internal coaching program for potential Agile coaches.
  • Develop standards, processes, and controls for configuration and release activities.
  • Establish and facilitate release team meetings, coordinate issues, and maintain release documentation.
  • Log, track, and escalate high-priority project issues affecting quality product delivery.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in management information systems or business administration.
  • CSM or CSP certification is desired.
  • At least five years of previous Agile or Scrum project management experience within a software development environment.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle, configuration, and change control management.
  • Strong organizational and cross-team communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
