About the position

The Senior Scrum Master at Humana plays a crucial role in facilitating and aligning multiple teams to deliver value iteratively and incrementally. This position acts as a catalyst for change, fostering an environment that empowers team members and emphasizes accountability, adaptability, and collaboration. The Senior Scrum Master is responsible for driving the implementation of various agile frameworks, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement within the teams.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the Scrum Team on how to use Scrum and SAFe practices and patterns to deliver high-quality products and services to customers.
  • Navigate through different coaching stances (coaching, mentoring, teaching, facilitating) to grow the agile skills and mindset of team members.
  • Create an environment that empowers and energizes team members, focusing on accountability, adaptability, and collaboration.
  • Nurture self-organization and team cohesion to achieve high performance.
  • Facilitate and support all Scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective, as well as PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt sessions.
  • Mentor Product Owner(s) in user story creation, prioritization, and Product Backlog refinement, ensuring focus on technical needs and improvements to testing and deployment processes.
  • Remove impediments that obstruct the team's goals and ensure work visibility for continuous progress.
  • Utilize data and team metrics to demonstrate team capacity, predictability, and maturity.
  • Help teams navigate through organizational change using change management frameworks.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role within an agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum and SAFe methodologies and practices.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Experience in removing impediments and facilitating team productivity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as a Scrum Master (CSM, PSM) or equivalent.
  • Experience with agile transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with change management frameworks.
