About the position

As a Senior Scrum Master on the GEODS team, you will play a crucial role in supporting a National Security mission by enhancing the accessibility and delivery of GEOINT data. This position involves collaborating with skilled developers and stakeholders to implement Agile methodologies and industry best practices, including AWS cloud solutions and automation. You will facilitate Scrum ceremonies and work closely with Product Owners to ensure the development teams can effectively enhance NGA applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple talented scrum teams working on critical projects associated with a multi-year IT Transformation program
• Ensure teams follow Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery model
• Work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to understand their requirements or user stories
• Ensure the Product Owner defines and maintains the Product Backlog
• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including Program Increment Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective
• Manage scrum boards in Jira, ensuring updates and accountability among team members
• Track stories and ensure they are properly decomposed into manageable tasks
• Remove impediments to allow developers to focus on their work
• Act as a buffer between the team and process overhead
• Gather and process team metrics and KPIs to support continuous improvement
• Assess Scrum Maturity of the team and coach them to higher levels of maturity

Requirements

• Ability to manage and balance the needs of multiple scrum teams
• Ability to resolve impediments and maintain control over the scrum processes
• Experience facilitating Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Demo, Sprint Retrospective, and Program Increment Planning meetings
• Conflict resolution skills, displaying scrum values of openness, honesty, and respect
• Strong communication skills, including discussing technical topics with a wider audience
• Ability to accurately forecast deliverables in an iteration based on evidence
• Ability to perform effective estimation and planning at a Program Increment and Sprint level
• Ability to coach Agile practices and prioritize individuals and interactions over processes and tools
• Strong Jira experience and skills
• Certified Scrum Master or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification
