About the position

The Senior Scrum Master at Humana plays a crucial role in facilitating and aligning multiple teams, including Product Owners and stakeholders, to deliver value iteratively and incrementally. This position acts as a catalyst for change, fostering an environment that empowers team members and focuses on accountability, adaptability, and collaboration. The Senior Scrum Master is responsible for driving the implementation of various agile frameworks, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement within the teams. This role requires independent initiative and the ability to adapt to changing needs while mentoring and coaching team members in agile practices.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the Scrum Team on how to use Scrum and SAFe practices to deliver high-quality products and services.
  • Navigate through different coaching stances to grow the agile skills and mindset of team members.
  • Create an empowering environment focused on accountability, adaptability, and collaboration.
  • Nurture self-organization and team cohesion to achieve high performance.
  • Facilitate all Scrum events including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Support PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt sessions.
  • Mentor Product Owner(s) in user story creation, prioritization, and Product Backlog refinement.
  • Remove impediments to facilitate team productivity and ensure continuous progress.
  • Utilize data and team metrics to demonstrate team capacity, predictability, and maturity.
  • Help teams navigate organizational change using change management frameworks.
  • Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to improve Agile practices.

Requirements

  • Typically 5+ years related experience including 3+ years as a Scrum Master.
  • 2+ years of experience working with agile methodologies on large scale, technically complex projects.
  • Thorough understanding of agile methodologies, values, practices, and patterns.
  • Proven experience coaching and mentoring others.
  • Proven ability to facilitate the removal of impediments.
  • Advanced facilitation, presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills.
  • Thrives in a VUCA environment (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous).
  • Validated agile learning/credentials such as CSM, A-CSM, SA, PSM, IC Agile such as ACC.
  • Experience with Agile Tracking tools such as ADO, Jira, VersionOne, Rally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Experience leveraging data and team metrics to demonstrate team capacity, predictability & maturity.
  • Experience with Lean and implementing a process improvement mindset.
  • Experience with Portfolio tools such as Service Now, Jira Align, PlanView/Leankit, Rally.
  • Agile coaching experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Scaled Agile (SAFe) certification(s): Scrum Master or Advanced Scrum Master.
  • Experience with testing practices (Gherkin) and DevOps.
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops as a product backlog tool.
