About the position

South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking a people-centered and organized Senior Secretary for our Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department within the College of Engineering. The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department combines all aspects of electricity, electronics, hardware and software into one multi-disciplinary unit, offering degree programs in electrical engineering and computer science with minors in computer science, biomedical engineering and software engineering. In this role, the Senior Secretary will provide essential administrative and program support services, contributing to program development that aligns with the department's strategic goals. This includes conducting marketing research, collecting data, performing basic data analytics, and generating reports. The Senior Secretary will also be responsible for fielding phone calls from various constituents, both internal and external, planning events, distributing correspondence, scheduling academic courses and rooms, and managing campus vouchers, invoices, and adherence to policies and procedures within the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of general office equipment, customer service practices, and computer software systems, particularly MS Office. They should demonstrate the ability to organize work effectively to meet deadlines, adapt their schedule based on project needs, work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, and communicate effectively with co-workers. This position is situated in a tobacco-free environment, and employment is contingent upon a successful background check, adhering to the university's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy.

Responsibilities
