We are looking for an experienced security engineer to join our cloud security team, and lead efforts in upleveling Confluent's cloud security maturity. In this role you will have a unique opportunity to leverage your security engineering skills to build some of the foundational systems and controls to keep our infrastructure secure and free from vulnerabilities. You will work closely with peers in the wider Trust & Security organization, and partner closely with engineers across the company. Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy solutions to secure our cloud and build infrastructure.
  • Develop and deploy secure defaults, including automation to detect and remediate certain classes of vulnerabilities in our infrastructure to reduce risk for Confluent.
  • Perform security reviews and threat modeling of internal infrastructure and products for partner teams in Confluent Engineering.
  • Document security best practices and collaborate with Engineering teams in implementing effective security solutions.
  • Participate in a security on-call rotation where you'll triage and remediate security incidents, working alongside Engineering teams.
  • Contribute to strategy and prioritization for engineering efforts around cloud security.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience, and a strong security fundamentals background.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and building solutions to uplevel the security posture of multi-account and multi-region cloud environments.
  • Experience using infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc).
  • Familiarity with more than one cloud vendor (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
  • Ability to work autonomously alongside a remote team, using a data-driven mindset to propose, get alignment on, and own engineering decisions.
