About the position

As a Senior Security Engineer specializing in Cloud Security at Confluent, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding our cloud infrastructure and ensuring the security of our data streaming services. Your expertise will be essential in developing and implementing security strategies that protect our systems from potential threats and vulnerabilities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to assess security risks, design secure architectures, and enforce security best practices across our cloud environments. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver secure and reliable data streaming solutions to our clients, enabling them to harness the full power of continuously flowing data. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting security assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, and implementing remediation strategies. You will also be tasked with monitoring security incidents, responding to threats, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Your ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be crucial in fostering a culture of security awareness within the organization. Additionally, you will stay abreast of the latest security trends and technologies, continuously enhancing our security posture and adapting to the evolving threat landscape. This position requires a proactive approach to security, with a focus on automation and efficiency. You will leverage your knowledge of cloud security tools and frameworks to streamline security processes and improve incident response times. As a senior member of the team, you will mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of security training programs, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a secure environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Proficiency in security tools and technologies for threat detection and response.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or AWS Certified Security Specialty.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with container security and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
