About the position

The Senior Security Risk Analyst position is located in the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response, focusing on the development, licensing, and oversight of security programs for nuclear power reactors. The role involves serving as a subject matter expert, leading security policy development, conducting technical reviews, and providing expert analysis on complex security issues to ensure public health and safety and national security interests.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to advise, coordinate, and lead security policy development for power reactors.
  • Conduct nuclear security studies and technical reviews.
  • Lead licensing-related security reviews for various reactor applications.
  • Facilitate technical meetings with applicants and contractors to resolve licensing matters.
  • Provide expert testimony at public hearings regarding technical analyses and evaluations.
  • Analyze complex security issues related to nuclear power plant operations.
  • Provide authoritative advice on security and safety/security interfaces for licensing and inspections.
  • Coordinate and develop agency views on security issues and international cooperation efforts.
  • Review and analyze plant information to inform policy decisions and guidance development.
  • Identify regulatory issues associated with NRC licensed facility security.
  • Advise NRC management on regulatory activities and issues involving power reactor security programs.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to meet/maintain security and suitability requirements.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in preparing and presenting complex analyses of security-related issues.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and logically, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in problem solving, conflict resolution, and effective decision-making.
  • Knowledge of NRC's mission, policies, processes, and nuclear industry licensees.
