About the position

As a Senior Security Solutions Engineer II at Rapid7, you will play a pivotal role in partnering closely with our Sales team, acting as the technical point of contact for both new and existing customers across all of Rapid7's award-winning solutions. This position is designed for individuals who are comfortable engaging in technical discussions with engineers and can seamlessly transition to business value conversations with C-level executives, particularly CIOs. The role is fully remote, based out of California, allowing for flexibility while contributing to a dynamic team environment. The Sales Engineering team at Rapid7 is a collaborative group that works closely with Account Executives in a pre-sales capacity to develop and position solutions that leverage Rapid7's security offerings. Given the smaller size of the local team, your contributions will have a significant impact, and you will have the opportunity to influence future growth within the organization. In this role, you will be expected to possess a deep understanding of Rapid7's product groups, particularly in security solutions, and be able to articulate the value of these solutions effectively. You will conduct both in-person and remote product demonstrations, working in tandem with Sales Account Executives to present the technical value proposition to potential customers. Your engagement with customers will be crucial throughout the pre-sales evaluation cycle, as you demonstrate how Rapid7 products can meet their specific business and technical needs. Additionally, you will collaborate with channel partners in the region, providing technical sales training and support for partner-led opportunities, and represent Rapid7 at seminars, events, and industry trade shows.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Sales team as the technical point of contact for customers.
  • Conduct in-person and remote product demonstrations to showcase the technical value proposition of Rapid7's solutions.
  • Engage with customers throughout the pre-sales evaluation cycle, demonstrating how Rapid7 products meet their business and technical needs.
  • Provide technical sales training and support to channel partners in the region.
  • Represent Rapid7 at seminars, events, and industry trade shows, providing on-stand demonstrations.

Requirements

  • A strong passion for learning new skills and technologies.
  • Technical qualification assistance for sales.
  • A technical background, preferably in the security space.
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple operating systems and security solutions.
  • A genuine interest in helping customers achieve their goals.
  • Ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
  • Highly competent interpersonal skills in English.
  • Effective presentation skills in front of large groups, both technical and non-technical.
  • Self-driven, enthusiastic, and determined to succeed.
  • Understanding of the sales process and the roles involved.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment.
  • Experience as a security practitioner in a commercial or public-sector organization.
  • Good understanding of network topology, TCP/IP network configuration, and components (firewalls, routers, etc.).
  • Expertise in IT, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response, Threat Intelligence, DevOps, Application Security, or Security Automation.
  • Expertise in one or more cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Oracle Cloud.
