About the position

The Senior Security Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, configuring, and troubleshooting networked security systems within Amazon's Data Center Engineering team. This role requires a blend of technical network expertise and a deep understanding of physical security technology, focusing on the integration of security systems across multiple teams. The engineer will lead the implementation of security video monitoring technology and manage the conversion of business requirements into system specifications for security solutions deployed in data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of network layouts for physical security systems.
  • Work closely with electrical engineers, network engineers, and physical security engineers to configure and maintain security systems.
  • Integrate security devices into existing networks while maintaining security protocols.
  • Support the ingestion of new Security IoT devices into the AWS DCE Security Solutions lab.
  • Conduct regular system audits and update system documentation as necessary.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for network-related issues in security setups.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and technologies in networking and physical security systems.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and lead training for data center technicians on new hardware or software integration.
  • Participate in system engineering and design reviews for security solutions.
  • Manage projects from concept through deployment, collaborating with vendors and contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in electrical/mechanical systems and security systems design and implementation.
  • 5-10 years of experience managing multiple large projects.
  • 3-5 years of experience related to data center or critical equipment design.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical documentation development.
  • 3-5 years of experience with network devices, cameras, and IoT device system design.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS in Engineering (Electrical, Controls/Automation or Computer).
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) or certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Experience in design and development of video monitoring services.
  • Experience managing product testing labs for security systems design validation.
  • Experience with AWS compute, storage, and database products.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
