About the position

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of the department, performing both routine and complex technical duties in Preventative Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing components within building automation systems. The individual will work under the supervision of the Service Manager and is expected to maintain responsibilities of lower-level technicians while contributing to the overall performance and efficiency of the service contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair building automation system field cabinets and all periphery devices.
  • Perform Preventative maintenance tasks per department standards and assist lower-level technicians.
  • Diagnose and repair end devices, module configuration, and troubleshoot network-related issues.
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings as necessary.
  • Provide information needed to evaluate labor requirements, costs, and overall performance of service contracts.
  • Maintain positive relationships with owners and contractors.
  • Understand various protocols integrated into the building automation system.
  • Make complex program and graphic changes to meet specifications and customer requests.
  • Read and interpret project specifications and scopes of work.
  • Communicate technical issues to management and project managers.
  • Document database changes made at service contract sites and make information available for future use.
  • Maintain company tools, test equipment, and materials.
  • Perform necessary database tasks such as backups and troubleshooting.
  • Understand the company's building automation software suite and offerings.
  • Create thorough daily service reports to submit to the Service Manager weekly.
  • Set a good example for lower-level technicians and provide training and repair support when needed.
  • Communicate with job-site personnel to complete objectives.
  • Participate in solutions-based discussions with owners and project stakeholders.
  • Work with Service Contract customers to provide advanced DDC solutions and energy savings recommendations.
  • Support a performance-based culture for continuous improvement and alignment with enterprise objectives.
  • Ensure quality and safety standards are met and drive continuous improvements.

Requirements

  • 5 years journeyman level experience and certification in one or more of the building trades.
  • High school diploma or GED, supplemented by vocational/technical training in general construction (carpentry), plumbing, wiring, HVAC, etc.
  • Self-starter attitude that is inquisitive and has a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to document daily tasks and plan for assigned tasks.
  • Familiarity with the Automated Logic hardware product line and network architecture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment requiring strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • High ethical standards, strong values, integrity, and drive to deliver results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with building automation systems and controls.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.
