About the position

The Senior Shift Lead for the 2nd shift production at Greif Packaging LLC plays a crucial role in mentoring team members and preparing for future supervisory responsibilities. This position is essential in bridging the gap between Shift Lead duties and full supervisory roles, ensuring effective production operations and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams in setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing production equipment.
• Assist supervisor in overseeing colleague performance and scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory policies and promote a safe working environment.
• Monitor production quality and ensure adherence to quality control standards.
• Adhere to and prioritize production schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
• Train new production workers on processes, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
• Coordinate with inventory control to ensure raw materials and supplies are available for production.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
• Provide regular updates to management on production metrics and issues.
• Act as the point of contact for colleagues in the absence of the Supervisor.

Requirements

• 5 years experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with a focus on mentoring and developing team members.
• Problem-solving, conflict resolution, and analytical abilities.
• Experience with administrative tasks such as scheduling, reporting, and strategic planning.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Familiarity with production scheduling and planning.
