About the position
The Senior Signal Engineer will be a key member of AECOM's World Class Rail Team in Miami, FL, responsible for the design and implementation of various train control systems. This role requires extensive experience in systems such as Communication Based Train Control (CBTC), Positive Train Control (PTC), and Automatic Train Supervision (ATS), among others. The engineer will engage in programming, developing design plans, and coordinating project designs with other disciplines, ensuring effective communication with suppliers and clients.
Responsibilities
- Vital and non-vital processor programming.
- Developing Control Lines and Route and Aspect Charts.
- Develop and review design plans and technical specifications.
- Coordination of project designs with other disciplines including attendance at project meetings.
- Review shop drawings, record changes and communicate directly with suppliers, contractors and client representatives as required.
- Prepare construction estimates and engineering budgets.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- 10 years of experience in the design, construction, testing and commissioning of Train Control Systems and Equipment with an Engineering Firm, Transit Authority or Signaling Equipment Manufacturer.
Nice-to-haves
- Professional Engineering license (NY, NJ, MA, FLA).
- Experience with train control systems for commuter rail, subway, freight, light rail systems and streetcar systems.
- Experience managing/lead designer for signal projects from the conceptual design through to final commissioning.
