About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role at Oracle's Health Data Intelligence Platform focuses on engineering groundbreaking Oracle Cloud technologies and infrastructure. This position is critical in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of Oracle Cloud services, while collaborating closely with development partners. The SRE will take ownership of service performance and operability, engage in service design, and implement automation to enhance operational efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to impact the healthcare industry significantly by redefining the intersection of healthcare and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the shared full stack ownership of services and technology areas with development partners.
  • Ensure services are designed for security, resiliency, scale, and performance.
  • Partner with development teams to define and implement improvements in service architecture.
  • Communicate the scale, capacity, security, and performance attributes of owned services.
  • Implement and maintain backup, restore, and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Automate processes to eliminate technical debt and improve efficiency.
  • Act as a subject matter expert during major incidents and complex issues.
  • Document technical architecture and service dependencies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience running large scale customer-facing web services.
  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a Federal Security Clearance.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware configuration, Linux internals, and networking.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, and Bash.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef and Ansible.
  • Understanding of REST APIs and load balancing technologies.
  • Experience with databases, big data stores, and container management technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of languages such as Ruby, C++, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with monitoring and instrumentation tools.
  • Familiarity with IT security and compliance standards.
