About the position

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will be part of the Cloud+Artificial Intelligence (C+AI) Silver SQL Team at Microsoft, responsible for deploying and operating the Azure SQL family of services within Azure Government clouds. This role involves working with engineers to enable Azure services for customers in highly secured and regulated industries, ensuring that systems and software meet stringent security policy and assurance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions to enhance production reliability.
• Demonstrate experience in distributed systems design and cloud technology interactions.
• Identify and recommend optimal configurations for cloud technology solutions.
• Contribute to improvements in product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.
• Research industry trends and new tools for maintaining product reliability.
• Engage with product engineering teams through code/design reviews and incident responses.
• Develop and test changes to optimize code and improve system observability and reliability.

Requirements

• 6+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration, or equivalent educational background with relevant experience.
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• 7+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
• Experience with PowerShell, C#, or C++ or equivalent language.
• Experience working on large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
