About the position

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will be part of the Cloud+Artificial Intelligence (C+AI) Silver SQL Team at Microsoft, focusing on deploying and operating Azure SQL services within Azure Government clouds. This role involves collaborating with engineers to ensure that Azure services meet the security and assurance requirements of customers in highly regulated industries. The position emphasizes a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability, aligning with Microsoft's mission to empower individuals and organizations globally.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate Azure SQL services within Azure Government clouds.
• Collaborate with engineers to enable Azure services for customers in regulated industries.
• Ensure systems and software meet security policy and assurance requirements.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident responses throughout product development and operations cycles.
• Engage in code/design reviews and regular meetings with product engineering teams.
• Research and maintain awareness of industry trends in distributed systems and cloud technologies.
• Contribute to the implementation of new solutions to solve persistent problems.

Requirements

• 6+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration, OR a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 3+ years of experience, OR a Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience.
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• 7+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration.
• Experience with PowerShell, C#, or C++ or equivalent language.
• Experience working on large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
