About the position

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer will be part of the Cloud+AI Silver Team, responsible for deploying and operating a Secure Work Area, including infrastructure for collaboration within an airgapped environment. This role involves working with engineers to enable a broad set of Azure services for internal customers in highly secured and regulated industries, ensuring that systems and software meet security policies and assurance requirements for both public and private sector customers.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in distributed system design and interaction between cloud technology layers and components.
• Identify and recommend optimal configurations of cloud technology solutions and modify codebases to improve reliability and operability.
• Develop an understanding of specific product code, features, and operations to contribute to improvements in availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.
• Research and maintain awareness of industry trends and advancements in distributed systems and cloud technologies.
• Contribute to the implementation of new solutions within the team to solve pertinent problems.
• Leverage technical expertise in large-scale distributed systems to suggest changes or additions to product features or code.
• Engage with product engineering teams through code/design reviews, regular meetings, and incident response throughout the product development and operation cycle.

Requirements

• 6+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or system administration, or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 3+ years of experience, or a Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience.
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• Ability to meet customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• 7+ years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or system administration.
• 3+ years of experience with PowerShell, C#, or C++.
• Experience working on large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
