About the position

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at The Trade Desk is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and efficiency of the company's systems and applications. This role involves designing, building, and delivering reliable infrastructure and tools for clients, partners, and employees, while working in a hybrid environment that includes both Linux and Windows operating systems. The SRE will actively participate in agile methodologies, focusing on automation and scalable solutions to technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the reliability and performance of The Trade Desk systems and applications.
  • Design and build reliable infrastructure and tools for clients, partners, and employees.
  • Monitor capacity and replace manual workflows with automation tools.
  • Evangelize scalable long-term solutions to technical problems.
  • Support thousands of hosts globally, managing petabyte-scale data challenges.
  • Collaborate with teammates in an agile environment to improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong coding skills in languages such as C#, Python, Go, Powershell, or Ruby.
  • Experience with service reliability, automation, monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Knowledge of modern architectures, including Docker and containers.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Experience with infrastructure schedulers like Kubernetes and Mesos.
  • Ability to work with both physical servers and cloud platforms such as AWS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with monitoring and metrics platforms such as Prometheus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to engineering challenges.
  • Ability to advocate for ideas while being open to feedback and collaboration.
