About the position

The SPLUNK Engineer will play a vital role in the Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at Humana, focusing on ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of systems through effective monitoring and data analysis using SPLUNK. This position involves developing, configuring, and maintaining SPLUNK environments, implementing and optimizing SPLUNK queries, and collaborating with various teams to provide solutions for performance and reliability issues.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure, and maintain SPLUNK environments for effective monitoring, logging, and analysis.
  • Implement and optimize SPLUNK queries, dashboards, and alerts to support proactive system monitoring and incident response.
  • Collaborate with SRE and development teams to understand requirements and provide SPLUNK-based solutions for performance and reliability issues.
  • Perform data analysis and visualization to identify trends, potential issues, and areas of improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SPLUNK related issues, including performance tuning and integration challenges.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for SPLUNK configurations, processes, and best practices.
  • Participate in On-Call rotations and provide support during critical incidents to ensure system reliability.
  • Stay updated with the latest SPLUNK features and industry best practices, and recommend improvements.
  • Utilize Dynatrace to monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize application and infrastructure performance.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for using Dynatrace and ensure optimal configuration and utilization across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or at least 6 years of equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with SPLUNK deployment, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • 2+ years of SPLUNK architecture, data indexing, and query language (SPL) experience.
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-starter with a passion for contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related technical field.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure).
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and methodologies.
  • Certifications related to SPLUNK, Dynatrace.
