About the position

The position involves designing and building the infrastructure for a global cloud service that manages a vast number of MongoDB clusters and processes extensive metrics daily. The role requires expertise in observability technology and high throughput edge networking, with a focus on optimizing infrastructure for cost, simplicity, and maintainability. The candidate will work in a hybrid model, requiring in-office presence three days a week while allowing remote work for two days.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the infrastructure for a global cloud service comprising hundreds of thousands of MongoDB clusters.
  • Process a billion metrics per day and replicate tens of billions of database writes to the backup service.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot monitoring services that span multiple cloud providers globally.
  • Become an expert in observability technology to instrument and monitor all aspects of services.
  • Handle high throughput edge networking, managing billions of requests per day.
  • Improve infrastructure capabilities, optimizing for cost, simplicity, and maintainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science or related field and five years of progressive experience in Site Reliability / Production Engineering or related role.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science or related field and three years of experience in Site Reliability / Production Engineering or related role.
  • Experience running a mission-critical service at scale.
  • Strong understanding of information security issues and secure system design.
  • Experience running critical production systems in a Linux environment.
  • Solid understanding of web and network protocols and standards (HTTP, TLS, TCP/UDP, DNS).
  • Experience in modern observability tooling (Prometheus, Splunk, OTEL, ELK stack, etc.).
  • Experience in modern edge networking, including load balancing, proxy/reverse-proxy, DNS, and edge security.
