About the position

At FIS, we are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our innovative Capital Markets team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of our software applications. As an SRE, you will be involved in the day-to-day operations of various production environments, focusing on maintaining high stability, reducing service downtime, and improving the quality of service for our clients. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while coding, configuring, implementing, maintaining, and supporting our systems. Your responsibilities will include leading incident triage calls, participating in root cause analysis, and configuring and deploying product releases into production. You will also be involved in data center and infrastructure change activities, developing monitoring and alerting systems for various application production environments, and identifying repetitive non-value-adding tasks to automate them through coding and scripting. Collaboration is key, and you will actively participate in team meetings and team-building activities to foster a positive work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on scalability, high availability, performance, stability, and reliability of software applications. You will be expected to build automations to simplify operations and processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure a positive end-user experience. A solid understanding of products and interdependencies, along with a blend of operational and software development skills, is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in day-to-day operations of various production environments.
  • Lead incident triage calls and follow up on root cause analysis.
  • Configure and deploy product releases into production and verify quality work.
  • Participate in data center and infrastructure change activities.
  • Develop monitoring and alerting for various application production environments.
  • Identify repetitive non-value adding tasks and automate them through coding and scripting.
  • Actively participate and contribute in team meetings and team building activities.

Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in building and supporting application infrastructure in private and Azure public cloud.
  • 2-3 years of Change Management experience using ITSM tools like Service Now.
  • Experience in initiating and leading or participating in the resolution of incidents.
  • 2-3 years of experience developing and implementing effective monitoring using tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, and Azure cloud native monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge and skills to work comfortably on Windows, Unix systems, IBM technologies like WebSphere AS and MQ, and SQL Server.
  • Ability to query, script, and deploy in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience in developing and implementing production monitoring.
  • Experience and good understanding of networking.
  • Hands-on Unix shell scripting, Perl/Python, PowerShell, and MS SQL programming experience.
  • General knowledge of financial applications.
