About the position

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Centene Corporation is responsible for leading projects that enhance platform infrastructure performance, reliability, and security through SRE practices. This role involves developing complex services for monitoring, troubleshooting service disruptions, and ensuring systems operate at optimal performance. The engineer will advocate for standardized software tools, lead project teams, and maintain documentation to facilitate effective incident response and resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects focused on managing and maintaining platform infrastructure performance, reliability, and security.
  • Develop complex services to automate monitoring activities and provide critical information for performance and availability issues.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze service disruptions to determine root causes and develop solutions for improved reliability.
  • Lead projects to build and maintain observability/monitoring for applications and key performance indicators.
  • Make decisions around system validation, testing, and service monitoring.
  • Identify strategies to increase system reliability and performance through process optimization.
  • Implement manual and automated procedures for improved collaborative response in real-time.
  • Lead lower-level engineers in stress, security, and performance testing.
  • Keep documentation and runbooks up to date for incident management.
  • Lead post-incident reviews and document findings for future decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science).
  • 4 - 6 years of related experience or equivalent experience reflecting the level of this position.
  • Experience with Linux, Unix, and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Experience with observability/monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Elastic, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Experience with enterprise-level CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Cloudbees, OpenShift.
  • Experience with public cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
  • Experience with databases such as MongoDB, MySQL, Oracle DBMS, PL SQL, SQL.
  • Experience with IT service management tools such as Service Now, Atlassian, BMC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with programming tools and building highly scaled applications.
  • Familiarity with varying code repositories and auto deployments using tools like Gitlab, Bitbucket, Subversion.
