About the position

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at CVS Health, you will play a crucial role in enhancing system reliability and performance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This position involves implementing critical metrics for system health, improving service level agreements (SLAs), and advocating for security best practices. You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with various teams to ensure the reliability of systems and contribute to the overall mission of delivering human-centric health care.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, curate, implement and adapt critical metrics for system health and performance.
  • Improve the SLA by maximizing operational efficiencies and strengthening incident management practices.
  • Practice sustainable incident response and conduct blameless postmortems.
  • Understand the technology stack end-to-end and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Build a unified monitoring framework and develop efficient automation solutions.
  • Advocate for security best practices and ensure compliance with enterprise security teams.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement and technical leadership direction.
  • Serve as an authority in infrastructure topology, resiliency patterns, and SRE practices.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for multi-cloud configurations and containerization technologies.
  • Simplify and automate deployment processes and provide non-disruptive releases.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of overall IT experience with software engineering/support or systems engineering background.
  • 3+ years of experience with DevOps and SRE principles, including CI/CD pipelines and incident management.
  • 3+ years of experience with source control and continuous integration tools such as Git/Stash, BitBucket, and Jenkins.
  • 3+ years of experience with logging platforms and application performance metrics like Splunk and DataDog.
  • 3+ years of experience in databases such as DB2, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • 3+ years of experience with observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience programming with Oracle, Splunk, HTML, Nodejs, Java/J2E.
  • Experience with Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, Google), Microservices, Rancher, Docker, Kubernetes, and web APIs.
  • Knowledge of Application Cloud Security and Networking including DNS, WAF, and Firewalls.
  • Experience in partnering with architecture, product, and program management teams.
  • Operational experience in complex distributed and real-time systems.
