About the position

The Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager at Amazon is responsible for ensuring compliance with WHS policies and local regulations at a designated site. This role involves leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and health in the workplace, building trust with operations teams, and providing comprehensive risk assessments. The manager will also develop and mentor a team of safety professionals, ensuring effective communication and training on safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with site operations team to execute WHS policies and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce ergonomic and conditional risks.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.
  • Instruct and train operations leadership and site WHS professionals on EHS policies.
  • Develop leadership plans for safety managers and professionals at the site.
  • Measure site performance against safety policy requirements and identify improvement plans for deficiencies.
  • Ensure accurate safety record keeping and reporting to support business initiatives.
  • Analyze incident trends and propose action plans to senior leadership.
  • Audit compliance with global safety standards and local regulations.
  • Manage and mentor Safety Managers and Associates at the site.
  • Engage with Injury Prevention Specialists to drive incident reduction strategies.
  • Perform targeted Kaizen events based on identified risks.
  • Audit the effectiveness of safety training and tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of experience in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing or service operations
  • 7+ years of experience in people and performance management
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Experience implementing lean principles in an operational environment
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including nights and weekends
