About the position

Hearst Magazines is seeking a senior social media manager for Elle, responsible for overseeing the strategy for the brand's digital platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and Apple News. The role focuses on increasing brand performance across all platforms with an emphasis on innovation, engagement, and growth. The ideal candidate should be deeply engaged in culture and entertainment, capable of bringing the fashion and luxury world that Elle covers to life on social media.

Responsibilities

  • Devise a clear strategy for increased growth and engagement on all of Elle's social channels.
  • Manage, develop and grow talent on the social team, including staffers and freelance contributors.
  • Oversee the team's content calendar to produce a consistent cadence of posts and cover all relevant news and cultural events.
  • Create content for and post to the brand's Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram accounts.
  • Monitor social media platforms and audience feedback to inform editorial decision-making.
  • Work with various editorial teams to create and execute on social-first initiatives.
  • Develop new and innovative strategies for growing social presence.
  • Work with branded content and partnership teams to produce, edit, and execute paid programs.

Requirements

  • 6-8 years of post-grad social media experience, preferably for a consumer editorial brand
  • An innovative and creative thinker, with big ideas and lots of creative energy
  • Strong editorial judgment and clean writing skills
  • Keen understanding of the brand's voice
  • Proficiency with social platforms (including TikTok, Twitch, and other emerging platforms) and tools (including SocialFlow, Google Analytics, and CrowdTangle)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Able to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or other relevant area

Benefits

  • Base salary between $101,000 and $122,000, dependent on factors such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
  • Position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
