About the position

The Social Worker position is part of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) within the Mental Health Care Line at Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS). This role involves providing specialized treatment and psychotherapy to veterans with complex physical or mental health issues, utilizing evidence-based practices. The Social Worker will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and is expected to lead in discharge planning and psychosocial needs, ensuring high-quality care for veterans.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illness.
  • Incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of Veterans.
  • Provide advanced level case management interventions for veterans with various serious disorders.
  • Consult with colleagues and students on psychosocial treatment of patients.
  • Monitor the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of services offered within the program area.
  • Review and assess relevant data to develop and implement ideas for improvement.
  • Serve as a champion for discharge planning and psychosocial needs.
  • Provide assessments and referral services to community agencies.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school.
  • Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • At least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure in a specialized area of social work practice.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with evidence-based psychotherapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Couples/Family Therapy.
  • Certification or post-masters training from a recognized professional organization.
