About the position

The Senior Social Worker (Women's Health) at the Department of Veterans Affairs is a specialized role focused on delivering comprehensive care and services to Women Veterans. This position serves as the primary contact for the Women Veterans Health Program, advocating for the needs of Women Veterans and ensuring access to quality healthcare. The WHSW will collaborate with various departments to enhance the overall quality of care and promote a safe and welcoming environment for Women Veterans.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advocate for Women Veterans across Veterans Health Administration (VHA).
  • Work closely with the Veteran Experience Office to facilitate problem resolution and improve Women Veterans satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the Women's Health Program Manager and Women's Health Medical Director to form the foundation of the Women's health team.
  • Provide expertise and guidance specific to Women Veterans for facility-wide strategic goals and objectives.
  • Assess and facilitate preventive care and health promotion for Women Veterans.
  • Promote a safe and welcoming environment for Women Veterans.
  • Analyze organizational and operational problems and develop solutions for effective program operations.
  • Provide direct patient care and support for Women Veterans' health services.
  • Conduct outreach activities to increase awareness of Women Veterans' health services.
  • Develop and conduct educational programs for Women's Health providers and staff.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work.
  • Licensed or certified to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in social work.
  • Demonstrated advanced practice skills in a specialty area or administration.
