About the position

The Senior Social Worker position at the Veterans Health Administration in Perry, GA, focuses on providing comprehensive support to caregivers of veterans. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Caregiver Support Program and ensure compliance with local and VA initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the CSP team to provide comprehensive health care services to veterans, ensuring equity of access and high-quality care.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and training for staff development and continuing education programs.
  • Develop and facilitate caregiver support groups and educational programs, distributing materials from various organizations.
  • Participate in direct caregiver and veteran contacts to assess stress and develop clinical treatment interventions.
  • Conduct regular home visits to veterans and caregivers, responding to inquiries and assisting with program tasks.
  • Advise and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on caregiver issues.
  • Create educational tools and implement training focused on caregiver needs.
  • Provide ongoing consultation and support to colleagues regarding caregiver support services.
  • Serve as a consultant for navigating processes for caregivers and veterans with community agencies.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school.
  • Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's level.
  • At least two years of experience post-licensure, with one year equivalent to GS-11 level.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing and implementing educational programs for caregivers.
  • Certification or post-masters training from a recognized organization.
  • Knowledge of federal and state legislation regarding caregiver support.
