About the position

The Senior Software Architect (Cybersecurity) at Varian will play a crucial role in leading the architecture team to design next-generation delivery systems with a strong focus on software security. This position requires an experienced Systems Software Engineer to ensure that cybersecurity considerations are integrated into the platform architecture and feature design discussions, ultimately contributing to the mission of improving cancer care.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and guide the platform architecture with a 'design for security' mindset.
• Front load cybersecurity considerations in architectural and feature design discussions.
• Assist development teams in translating cybersecurity guidelines into concrete actions, such as converting DoD STIGs to actionable items and ensuring FIPS compliance.
• Conduct impact analysis for discovered CVEs and software infrastructure upgrades.
• Document Cybersecurity Risk Analysis.

Requirements

• 12+ years of related experience.
• Solid experience in designing distributed software systems.
• Modern secure software development practices (CSSLP Certification desirable).
• Experience with current secure infrastructure/interface design practices (TLS, Authn/Authz, Zero Trust).
• Strong software development experience with programming languages (C#/JAVA preferred).
• Familiarity with the principles of SDLC and methodologies like Agile/Scrum, CI, Clean coding and documentation practices, refactoring, and testing techniques.
• Experience with virtualization and microservices (containers, K8s).
