About the position

The position involves being part of a cross-functional team that designs and supports the future of the North American Freight Railroad Market. The role requires collaboration with subject matter experts, architects, developers, and testers to design, develop, and support mission-critical systems that enhance technologies like network optimization and autonomous rail networks. The ideal candidate should be self-driven, possess a strong sense of ownership throughout all project stages, and be capable of effective communication with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Help negotiate priorities and resolve conflicts among project stakeholders.
• Represent requirements information in graphical forms that augment textual representations.
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources and reconcile conflicts.
• Decompose high-level information into details and abstract from low-level information to a general understanding.
• Establish appropriate tracing mechanisms and links between project artifacts.
• Communicate information effectively to customers, marketing, managers, and technical staff.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Systems Engineering and Software Architecture.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, design patterns, architectural styles, and trade-offs.
• Experience with cloud technologies.
• Experience in designing and supporting mission-critical systems.
• Ability to balance and prioritize work based on needs from multiple stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills to engage with individuals and groups about their needs.
• Listening skills to understand and detect underlying concerns.
• Observational skills to validate data and expose new areas for elicitation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the Railroad Domain.
• Experience with CENELEC (EN 50128 / 50129), US IEEE 1483 / 1012, AREMA Section 17, or similar standards.
