About the position

Cribl is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our rapidly growing, remote-first company. This role is crucial in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards before they reach our customers. In this position, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for integrating, improving, and building upon our continuous testing systems. You will work closely with development teams to ensure that test planning and execution are incorporated early in our release cycles. Your expertise will be essential in identifying performance bottlenecks, spotting anomalous system behavior, and determining the root causes of issues. Effective communication of insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management will be a key part of your role, ensuring that everyone is aligned and informed throughout the testing process.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate with, improve, and build upon our continuous testing systems, testing automation, and reporting of quality metrics.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure proper test planning and execution is incorporated as early as possible in our release cycles.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks, spot anomalous system behavior, and determine the root cause of issues.
  • Effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience as a Software Engineer or SDET with a Computer Science degree and/or relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Proficiency in coding across various languages, with a preference for JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Proficiency in designing test frameworks/suites and developing test automation, encompassing both frontend and backend.
  • Familiarity with the Playwright framework is preferred.
  • Experience designing and developing tools and tests for complex customer use cases.
  • Experience collaborating with other teams such as Support, Sustaining, and Customer escalations.
  • Understanding and/or experience working with data-intensive applications and/or data streams processing.
  • Detail-oriented and dedicated to elegant and high-quality software; enjoys uncovering bugs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; able to explain complex technical topics to both internal and external stakeholders.
