About the position

The Senior Software Developer position at Pearson involves analysis, design, implementation, and unit testing to produce and maintain high-quality software solutions. This role is part of the Pearson/MZD team, focusing on developing innovative assessment technology platforms for creating and delivering exams, scoring responses, and reporting results. The position is critical to building a next-generation assessment ecosystem, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support data transformation solutions leveraging XSLT, Java, and JavaScript
  • Operate, extend and create cloud-based solutions in AWS
  • Contribute to the evolution in place of existing enterprise applications toward new technologies, platforms, and open-source solutions
  • Develop and maintain code using best practices for maintainability, performance, security, and verifiability
  • Quickly learn new processes, tools, and business domains

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent technology discipline, or equivalent on-the-job training
  • 5+ years relevant software development experience creating SaaS applications
  • Experience with development, maintenance, and testing of software, following industry best practices
  • Experience with highly available, highly concurrent cloud-based Web applications
