About the position

The Aspen Group (TAG) is a leading retail healthcare business support organization in the U.S., providing essential services to over 16,000 healthcare professionals across more than 1,200 health and wellness offices. TAG operates in four key areas: Dental care, urgent care, medical aesthetics, and animal health. The organization partners with independent practice owners and clinicians to enhance healthcare delivery, ensuring it is both better and smarter for everyone involved. TAG offers a comprehensive suite of centralized business support services that empower five consumer-facing brands: Aspen Dental, ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers, WellNow Urgent Care, Chapter Aesthetic Studio, and AZPetVet. Each brand benefits from a robust community of experts, tools, and resources aimed at fostering growth and delivering high-quality consumer healthcare experiences at scale. As part of our ongoing expansion, we are seeking a Senior Software Developer - Front End to join our IT Team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and enhancing websites for our various brands. We are currently modernizing our technology stack, transitioning from a variety of technologies to a unified platform that utilizes React and a headless CMS for content management. Our backend teams are also updating their codebase and developing a GraphQL layer to modernize our RESTful APIs. Additionally, our platform engineering team has established a modern CI/CD pipeline that allows for single-click deployments to our Kubernetes stack. These advancements will enable our teams to develop skills in A/B testing and facilitate rapid experimentation across our brands. We emphasize quality in our development processes, utilizing tools such as Cypress and Playwright to ensure high standards. This position also offers opportunities for career growth, with the potential to lead teams in the future. The development team is primarily based in Chicago, with an additional team located in Europe, and is expanding as we bring more operations in-house and unify our tech stack across our brands.

Responsibilities

  • Build new and enhance existing websites.
  • Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use.
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code.
  • Ensure quality using unit tests and automation tests such as Cypress and Playwright.
  • Optimize components for maximum performance across various web-capable devices and browsers.
  • Contribute new ideas to improve software practices and processes.
  • Submit and conduct peer code reviews as part of our DevOps pipeline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology with 5+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript.
  • Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles.
  • Familiarity with application state management concepts and libraries.
  • Experience with data structure libraries (e.g., Immutable.js).
  • Experience integrating APIs with RESTful and GraphQL services.
  • Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools.
