About the position

As a Senior Software Development Engineer I at Travelport, you will play a pivotal role in developing Java-based microservices and overseeing junior developers on various projects. Your primary responsibilities will include writing code, analyzing data, and contributing to the design and implementation of software solutions that enhance our travel retail platform. You will be part of an agile scrum team focused on delivering innovative air content to our agency applications, ensuring that our technology meets the evolving needs of the travel industry. In this role, you will be expected to ensure high-quality deliverables by utilizing a fully automated test framework. You will participate in feature and story refinement, researching and analyzing the impact of new capabilities on our systems. Your contributions will be crucial in achieving Program Increment Objectives by ensuring the successful completion of stories during each iteration. You will also help drive team velocity by collaborating closely with your team, ensuring that functional development work and maintenance activities adhere to Travelport's technology standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for generating ideas to improve overall system design and streamline the CI/CD pipeline, contributing to the efficiency of system flow. Your role will also involve supporting the availability and stability of applications in production, making your expertise essential to our mission of powering the future of travel.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices on an agile scrum team.
  • Develop Java-based APIs and automated tests.
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables by testing using a fully automated test framework.
  • Participate in feature and story refinement and analyze the impact of new capabilities.
  • Ensure successful completion of stories during each iteration to achieve Program Increment Objectives.
  • Drive team velocity by collaborating closely with the team and ensuring adherence to technology standards.
  • Generate ideas to improve system design and streamline the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Support the availability and stability of applications in production.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of Java development experience.
  • Experience in developing scalable enterprise applications using JSON, REST, and micro-services on cloud providers.
  • Expertise with Eclipse, Linux, Spring/Hibernate, SonarQube, HTTPS, XML, WSDL, Postman, SQL, NoSQL, SOAP services, JUnit, Git/GitHub/GitBucket, REST-Assured, Docker, and OpenShift.
  • Experience mentoring Agile teams and commitment to DevOps practices and Behavior-driven Development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills, effective conflict resolution skills, and good time management skills.
  • B.S. degree in a relevant field.
