Cloudera is looking for an experienced software engineer to join the Data Services Platform organization. We are incubating a new team from the ground up to deliver Cloudera's Data Services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The Data Services Platform (DSP) team is building a common substrate for Cloudera's next-gen Data Services for GenAI Inferencing, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Data Flow, Data Lake etc. We are building a hybrid data platform that abstracts out the complexities of various cloud providers like AWS, Azure, GCP and is the foundation pillar of Cloudera's hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud strategy. Cloudera's next-gen Data Services enables customers to utilize their on-premise and cloud infrastructure, dynamically adjusting and scaling to their workload needs. These Cloudera Data Services, whether hosted by Cloudera or the customer, enable the latest and evolved techniques of managing data to empower various consumers of data from analysts to data scientists. The Data Services Platform team have deep technical expertise in distributed computing and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, Apache Hadoop, etc. and on various cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, Openshift, RKE etc. We have team members who have been the pioneers of open source projects like Apache YARN, Apache Ambari, YuniKorn for Kubernetes. We are deeply involved in open source communities like Apache Software Foundation, CNCF. We are expanding our charter and incubating a new team under the Data Services Platform organization to enable Cloudera Data Services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We are looking for an experienced backend engineer with working experience on Cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, Azure, Openshift and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. You will be responsible for designing, building and delivering this platform and will closely collaborate with partner engineering teams to deliver features and products at a rapid pace. You must be self-motivated, innovative, and proactive. This role offers significant opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

  • Help build a microservices based platform layer for Cloudera's Data Services
  • Design, code, and implement elegant, scalable, enterprise-grade services
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with developers across organization boundaries, as well as Product Management and Field Engineering
  • Enhance developer velocity and team agility

Requirements

  • 6+ years of backend development experience in Go, Java programming languages
  • Hands-on experience with building enterprise-grade products with at least one of the following Cloud technologies - Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure
  • Prior working experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred
  • Well versed with Kubernetes and container technologies such as Docker
  • Experience with microservices design and development
  • Demonstrate ability to go deep into technology and complex distributed systems
  • Experience building scalable, robust and secure enterprise applications
  • Self-driven and motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and craftsmanship
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Openshift, EKS, AKS, GKE, Google Anthos etc.)
  • Deep understanding of GCP tech stack: Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) networking, Google Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Cloud Monitoring & Logging
  • Experience with more than one Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Openshift)
  • Experience building PaaS and SaaS products
  • Experience working in the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) community
  • Expertise in large scale resource schedulers like YARN, YuniKorn
