About the position

The Senior Software Engineer in Core Machine Learning at Google Cloud is responsible for developing and enhancing machine learning infrastructure and solutions that support Google's business needs. This role requires versatility and leadership qualities, as engineers will work on critical projects and have opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. The position emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and the application of cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Requirements

  • Experience in software development with a focus on machine learning or related fields.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and libraries.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with distributed computing and large-scale system design.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence and natural language processing.
  • Familiarity with UI design and mobile development.
