About the position

The Senior Software Engineer - Data Governance Solutions role at Apple focuses on developing advanced solutions to meet the company's data governance and compliance needs. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions, particularly in the areas of PII detection and data quality violation detection using cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage petabytes of data and design new frameworks for scalable data processing workflows.
  • Ensure completeness of data ingestion and full metadata enrichment, including data classification annotations and dataset descriptions.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize for cost and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Solve issues that arise in the data processing systems.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering with deep knowledge in computer science fundamentals.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Proficient in writing quality code with test cases and reviewing pull requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in Python programming language.
  • Extensive experience in building ingestion ETL pipelines.
  • Expertise in one or more functional or object-oriented programming languages (Scala, Java).
  • Experience or knowledge in distributed data systems like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or Flink.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience or knowledge in public cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
