About the position

The Senior Software Engineer - Data & Insights at Tyler Technologies is responsible for building and maintaining cloud software solutions that facilitate data access for government entities and their constituents. This role emphasizes collaboration within a team to create scalable, distributed systems that impact society by enabling data-driven leadership in various governmental contexts. The position allows for remote work from anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship high-quality customer-facing features.
• Maintain and improve a distributed cloud platform running on AWS.
• Provide direct mentorship to junior engineers on the team.
• Collaborate with other engineers, engineering management, designers, and product owners to design and architect solutions to business problems.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in software engineering.
• Experience with at least one statically typed language such as Scala, Elixir, Java, Go, or C++.
• Significant frontend experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, particularly with React/ES2016, Redux, jQuery, Typescript, and Ruby on Rails.
• Strong track record of shipping software in ambiguous situations.
• Experience in owning all aspects of a system lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment, metrics, and monitoring.
• Ability to enable other engineers' success through code contributions and mentorship.
• Experience with relational databases (Postgres) and NoSQL stores, with bonus points for Elasticsearch and AWS.
• Comfortable working in a heterogeneous development environment with multiple languages and technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with database technologies including relational databases and NoSQL stores.
