About the position

The Senior Software Engineer - Data Ops role focuses on creating, communicating, and enforcing best practices for data modeling, metadata management, data mapping, and data lineage within the Consumer Technology sector. This position collaborates with various teams to enhance data design and management practices, ensuring continuous improvement and effective communication across the engineering community.

Responsibilities

• Provide actionable guidance for delivery teams in data modeling, metadata management, data mapping, and data lineage.
• Contribute to strategies for data design and management in cloud environments using cloud-native technologies.
• Develop a comprehensive process for managing data lineage from design through implementation.
• Integrate data design capabilities with Test Data Management, data quality, and access control management.
• Communicate data design concepts to diverse audiences, including business and technical partners.
• Create instructional materials for varying levels of data management knowledge.
• Establish and maintain Data Design Requirements to ensure metadata accuracy and completeness.
• Enable delivery teams to manage data independently through common tools and practices.
• Expand and support the Data Management Self-Service product suite.
• Partner with leaders to establish support models for data management issues and activities.
• Drive engagement models and best practices for managing data in a scaled Agile environment.
• Manage data as a strategic asset and operationalize data design and lineage.
• Improve communication efficiency for data changes across complex data pipelines.
• Drive consistency and efficiency in Data Management practices for the Engineering community.

Requirements

• 4+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent.
• 2+ years of Data Design experience including hands-on Data Modeling with Enterprise tools.
• 2+ years of source to target Data Mapping and/or Data Lineage analysis.
• 1+ years of experience with scaled Agile practices.

Nice-to-haves

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience creating and presenting technical curriculum.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a relevant field.
• 2+ years of software engineering experience in Big Data Engineering, Application Support, or Technology Operations.
• Hands-on experience with Data Mapping and/or Data Lineage tools.
• Hands-on experience with Erwin Data Intelligence Suite.
