About the position

The Senior Software Engineer, Data at re:collect is responsible for building and implementing data architecture and client-server APIs for an AI-powered product. This role involves developing and scaling databases, monitoring model performance, and collaborating with a team to enhance the product and company culture. The engineer will work closely with the Founder/CEO, AI Research Engineer, and Product Designer to efficiently transform ideas into deployed features, contributing to a small, early-stage company environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other engineers to build a data architecture that enables easy deployment of ML models into production.
  • Build client-server APIs to move data between the front and backends.
  • Build ways of bringing new data sources in from outside re:collect.
  • Develop and own ways of monitoring model performance.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in software engineering, particularly with machine learning models.
  • Experience in building end-to-end data pipelines.
  • Proven experience in designing and scaling databases.
  • Strong empathy for customers and fellow employees.
  • Ability to thrive in an early-stage company with high levels of autonomy and accountability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience scaling data infrastructure for a fast-growing consumer software product.
  • Experience training machine learning models.
  • Familiarity with Graph and/or Vector databases.
  • Experience with data orchestration and ETL/ELT tools.
  • Good ideas for utilizing large cloud providers like AWS, GCP, and emerging computing providers.
  • Excitement about and/or experience building tools to augment thought work.
  • Previous experience in the early stages of a start-up.
