About the position
The Senior Software Engineer - Database Runtime Performance Optimization at StubHub is responsible for optimizing MS SQL Server performance, enhancing database workloads, and leading the migration of large-scale workloads across different databases. This role requires a deep understanding of SQL Server internals, programming proficiency in languages such as C++, C#, and Java, and a collaborative approach to work with cross-functional teams to improve database responsiveness and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, optimize, and enhance SQL Server workloads to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Utilize advanced techniques to optimize SQL queries, including index tuning, query plan analysis, and performance troubleshooting.
- Leverage in-depth knowledge of MS SQL Server internals to understand and resolve performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
- Lead and manage the migration of large-scale workloads across different databases or environments, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
- Design and implement changes to existing services or develop new microservices aimed at optimizing database workloads.
- Design and develop data management solutions that will be applied across hundreds of services.
- Develop frameworks and tools to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize SQL Server queries.
Requirements
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, and Java.
- Deep understanding of SQL Server workload optimization.
- Proven track record in migrating massive workloads across databases.
- Experience in developing SQL Server engine components is a plus.
