About the position

The Senior Software Engineer, DevOps at Capital One is responsible for ensuring superior system availability and enhancing customer experience through effective management of cloud-based applications. This role focuses on driving efficiencies through automation, providing technical guidance, and collaborating with various teams to implement solutions that enhance reliability and performance across enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and support automation and scripting solutions to drive new capabilities, visibility, and efficiency.
• Influence resiliency and scalability in production environments in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Identify opportunities and develop proactive automated monitoring and alerting solutions using tools like Splunk and New Relic.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance around DevOps best practices.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual validation efforts and drive zero touch automation and self-healing.
• Proactively monitor applications and infrastructure for availability, latency, performance, and capacity.
• Manage and govern relationships with technology vendors utilized in the enterprise.
• Create, manage and utilize appropriate technical procedural documentation (run books).
• Serve as an Operations Tier 3 escalation resource for incident resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 3 years of experience in DevOps Engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
• At least 2 years of experience with Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
• At least 2 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience.

Nice-to-haves

• 2+ years of experience developing applications
• 2+ years of experience with AWS Lambda
• 2+ years of experience with Python
• AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification
• 2+ years of experience working with Agile Development Practices.
