About the position

Handshake is hiring a Senior Software Engineer role on the Handshake Plus Monetization Team. In this role, you will contribute to the team's mission of driving SMB Employer growth through product innovation; acquisition, and revenue generation. You will have the opportunities to lead large projects through all developmental stages-- from early brainstorming and requirements refining, visual design, architectural design, experimental design, scoping, execution, and finally release.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on a cross-functional team with a designer, product manager, and other engineers.
  • Engage frequently with engineers, support, marketing, and data analysts across the organization.
  • Architect and build features that SMB employers will use daily.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality in your own work and in the feedback provided to peers in code review and architecture discussions.
  • Influence the team's roadmap and prioritization of innovation and operational health initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship to engineers and unblock and support your team to meet deliverables.
  • Lead sizable individual projects and projects that require multiple engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 6+ years of experience as a full stack engineer.
  • Proficient in SQL for query and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with partners in product, design, and analytics.
  • Experience leading large projects from idea to high quality delivery.
  • Ability to act with empathy when working with fellow engineers and coworkers.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to varying audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ReactJS, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience working on SMB SAAS products at scale.
  • Demonstrate ownership mentality and maintain a high degree of accountability for your work.
