As a Senior Audio Programmer, you will work with a small, dedicated team focused on providing a top-tier sonic experience for the players of our game. You will collaborate with sound designers to author tools and workflows that enable them to deliver desired project goals and requirements. You will collaborate with gameplay engineers to author audio systems and APIs that empower them to easily integrate audio functionality in their game systems and code. You will work together with project leadership and design partners to define and execute on the technical acoustic vision that meets the needs of the project. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a small group of audio-focused team members, serving as the primary owner of audio-based game systems and tools for the project.
  • Maintain and improve the audio technology tools pipeline and runtime systems for the project.
  • Partner with design, engineering, and audio team members to implement new audio tools and runtime systems that meet the project’s needs.
  • Author documentation and communicate best practices and technical constraints of the audio systems and tools to engineering and content creation team members.

Requirements

  • Previous experience authoring audio tools and systems for AAA games.
  • 6+ years of professional programming experience.
  • Proficiency with C++ code with an advanced knowledge of both historical patterns and modern language features.
  • Excellent spoken and written communications skills.
  • Experience with off-the-shelf sound engines such as Wwise or FMOD.
  • Self-motivated with a service-oriented attitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with Unreal Engine and Unreal audio systems.
  • Audio signal processing, having knowledge of mixing, sample rates, data compression, filters, reverbs, 3D positional audio, etc.
  • Previous experience authoring gameplay related features and systems.
  • B.S. (or higher) degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Proven experience shipping games on multiple platforms.
  • Strong math skills (linear algebra, trig, etc.).
