About the position

The Senior Software Engineer II role at Confluent focuses on backend engineering for the Cloud Growth/Experience Metrics platform team. This position involves building APIs that enhance user experiences and support the growth of Confluent Cloud offerings. The engineer will also contribute to the development of an internal data platform that provides insights to various stakeholders within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Build mission-critical backend services that deliver value to customers.
• Architect, design, develop, and operationalize high performance, scalable, reliable, and resilient services.
• Troubleshoot and debug technical issues within a complex technical stack including microservices, containers, and virtualization.
• Ensure operational readiness of services and meet availability and performance SLA commitments.
• Develop frameworks for data pipelines, metrics, dashboards, scorecards, and alerts.
• Collaborate closely with Frontend engineers, Product Managers, and other partner teams to modify existing services and create new ones.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong track record of driving project execution and providing technical direction.
• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.
• Experience building and operating large-scale systems.
• Solid understanding of basic systems operations (disk, network, operating systems, etc).
• Self-starter with the ability to work effectively in teams.
• Proficiency in Go, C/C++, or other statically typed languages.
• Experience/knowledge with public clouds (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with A/B testing methodologies.
• Excellent cross-group collaboration skills.
