Peraton is seeking a Senior Level Software Engineer to support our NOAA customer located in Melbourne, FL. This position will allow for a 100% remote hire, however, a person who is within a commutable distance to the site and can work a hybrid schedule will be preferred. NOAA's Space Weather Follow On L1 (SWFO-L1) Program is a single satellite mission that will launch in late 2025. The SWFO-L1 objective is to orbit the Sun to collect data and measurements. The SWFO-L1 project will use a suite of instruments to make real-time measurements of the solar wind, thermal plasma, and the magnetic field. In addition, SWFO-L1 will have a Compact Coronagraph (CCOR) instrument to detect coronal mass ejections. The L1 orbit allows for continuous unobstructed observation of the corona without interference from the Earth. As a Senior Level Software Engineer, you will be responsible for joining a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for C2 Satellite Ground Station Command and Control applications ensuring system compatibility to meet program technical and schedule objectives. You will collaborate with other SMEs, software developers, and cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement capabilities to support satellite operations, and participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers. Additionally, you will work with customers' technical and operational leads to support satellite validation, verification, and operations, providing constructive feedback. Your role will also involve generating and maintaining new and existing software applications for command and control (C2) systems, performing analysis, troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and testing related to new and existing software applications. You will develop, test, and maintain software applications primarily using C, C++, and Java, while recognizing and adopting best practices in documentation, testing, and efficient use of resources. Furthermore, you will utilize basic administration and configuration of RedHat Enterprise Linux to resolve configuration issues and integrate Red Hat Linux systems with other existing environments.
